Health & safety

To manage the health and safety and improve the welfare and safety of our employees and other stakeholders affected by our company operations, we have developed a health and safety management system using the BS EN OHSAS 18001:2007 framework.

This is an international occupational health and safety management system specification that was created via a concerted effort from a number of the world’s leading national standards bodies, certification bodies, and specialist consultancies.

The OHSAS specification is applicable to our organisation as it has established a health and safety management system that eliminates or minimises risks to employees and other interested parties who may be exposed to health and safety risks associated with our company’s operations.

The standard provides a framework to implement, maintain and continually improve the management of health and safety within our organisation and allows our company to demonstrate our conformance regarding health and safety issues to our clients by providing a globally recognised accreditation.
Another benefit of the standard is that it ensures that our company is conforming with our health and safety policy and our system is also CHAS accredited.

All of our work schemes are risk assessed so that suitable health and safety management plans can be developed ensuring that the risk from any hazards are eliminated or reduced. King Construction can work in the capacity of principal contractor or sub contractor and will ensure that all Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 are adhered to, whatever role our company is employed in.
Obviously training requirements are an important aspect within any company as it has long been proven that a fully trained workforce who understand how to carry out their duties will be far more productive than an untrained workforce. As part of our ISO9001:2008 quality management system a Training and Development Procedure has been developed to ensure that all training requirements are identified and training skills provided, so that all employees are trained and competent to carry out their tasks safely and competently.

Our health and safety management system is regularly audited and reviewed to ensure that it meets the requirements of the company and to ensure that all statutory obligations are abided by. Any amendments made to the system will be conveyed to employees through in-house training or toolbox talks.
