Green Lane, Maghull

Minor term maintenance

Brief description:

The scheme was a UTC upgrade to an existing signalised junction within Sefton. Due to the length of time that the equipment has been installed they were experiencing intermittent problems with the existing traffic signals, so a full refurbishment of the equipment was required and therefore carried out.

The works included the installation of new 3 way ducting across all 3 legs of the junction, the installation of 1 way ducts in the footway and the installation of new traffic signal chambers to accommodate the cable upgrade.

We held a pre contract meeting on site with the client prior to the scheme commencing to discuss the best way of undertaking the scheme and to look at the best form of traffic management. We had to take into account various site constraints, predominantly the volume of traffic in order to evaluate which method of traffic management was to be used. It was decided to use 3 way temporary signals to manage the vehicular traffic and to use footpath closures where necessary to manage the pedestrians

The scheme was carried out under the Sefton MBC HM9 Service Contract which we have recently been awarded.

Achievements against targets:

The scheme was carried out within the 2 week programme and was on budget.
